At the turn of the century, the Country Style Donut chain faced heavy competition in the Millennium Donut Wars and closed many of its locations (Eventually the company rebranded without the “Donut” and has made a comeback.)
The location at Queen and Gladstone went independent in the early 2000s and became the Country Site Cafe. Few noticed the change.
Now open 0 days a week. This is the West end of Queen, at the south end of Roncesvalles Avenue. There’s still a pay phone. I can’t remember this corner being anything other than a convenience store. Could it be reborn as something else?
In this picture from June 2006 there’s an older transit shelter, different brands, but it’s still pretty much the same place:
